I've always loved doing paper cuts, so when we got given this task I was excited to be able to get out my craft knife once more. I like it because it forces you to think only in shape which is very helpful for me coming from a background where pencil was my best friend. Although I really struggled when I tried to create only shape when using other materials such as pen. I found that I'd always draw the outline first then fill it with shape. But I know the only way I can stop doing this is by lots of practice, must think shape!
(a couple of days later)
I've only just noticed that I didn't use collage for this exercise. That is one of the best ways of being forced to use shape, how did I not think about this!?!?!?
