I had left this Emil for a while because 504 was making me want to spontaneously combust, which frustrates me a little because if I'm doing a small project like this I like to bash it out in a couple of executive days but oh well.
I decided to go with this kind of composition, having Emil in the middle with his friends looking out either side of him, I wanted the main focus to be bang in the middle.
I quickly realised that this method takes a lot longer than I anticipated, mainly due to the process of waiting for the paint to dry. But with the help with a hairdryer, I was getting there slowly. I am glad that I have chosen this style, as all the elements are individual so I can easily move them about.
When I finally finished, I wanted to photograph it so I could create shadows from the layered paper. But no matter what angle I took the photo from, I thought it looked a bit rubbish. I think if I wanted to photograph then I should do it properly with the right equipment instead of my iPhone torch and baby SLR. But I really liked the shadows so was not sure what to do...
So I decided just to scan in my work and thought that it might not be too bad if I digitally draw in some shadows. I knew it wasn't going to be as good, but at least it'll be better quality.
