Small Brief - Penguin Random House - Book 2 - Final

FINAL

The final book cover! The scanned version was definitely the right choice, as you can see it is a lot clearer and more professional looking than the photograph. Even though, I would of liked to have had bigger shadows, I am happy with how the book cover turned out. The style is very different and contemporary which is what the brief asked for. For myself, I like how this isn't really something that I'm known for producing, I don't think this looks like my own work. Which I suppose can be seen as a good thing at this stage, because it shows that I have a versatile set of creative skills.

Although, I'm not sure I pushed myself with composition, as this design is quite similar to what has already been produced. I don't really think that I broke through any boundaries and really gave a spin on the original compositions. But you could argue that the style is very different so that over rides the generic composition.

Overall, I am pleased with what I have produced, mainly due to what I said before about it showing my versatility. If first year Amy saw this book cover that I made, I don't think she would of realised that it was myself that produced it, showing my progress! Which alone is a win in my eyes, even if the actual cover doesn't win.
